Redistricting

Attleboro Public Schools

What is Redistricting?

Redistricting is the process through which school zoning boundaries and the addresses assigned to particular schools within these boundaries are examined to ensure they are aligned to school capacity.

Students in Attleboro Public Schools are assigned to their neighborhood school based on their address. Each school building falls into a zoning boundary, and all addresses within this boundary are assigned to that particular school. The only exception to this is for students who are attending a special program.

Why Redistrict?

The physical capacity of all schools do not align with the number of students assigned based on zoning boundaries. To enhance the educational experience for all students and promote a cohesive sense of community, it is imperative to align these school assignments to the physical capacity of schools and the addresses within the zoning boundaries.

See below for more insight on why APS Operations & Infrastructure Council has begun to collect data, explore options to support realignment, and the phases it may include.

Phases

The redistricting process will happen in multiple phases, each explained here. Please note that as more information becomes available and progress is made during each phase, adjustments will be made accordingly.
