Student Chromebook Repair Costs

The current 2024-25 Student Handbook states:
Attleboro Public Schools (APS) has adopted a 1:1 Chromebook learning model. The aim is to integrate technology seamlessly into the educational experience. Each student from Grades 2 to 12+ will receive a Chromebook for academic use throughout the school year. Upon exiting the district, the device must be returned to the Office of Instructional Technology (OIT). While students are granted the privilege of Chromebook use, both families and students bear responsibilities in its care and usage.
The District does not carry accidental damage insurance. Students are responsible for any damage requiring repairs. Devices that do not function as the result of a manufacture defect will not be charged.

The following price list is valid for the 2024 - 2025 school year only.

Chromebooks returned to IT are often recycled back to other students or used as spare devices. Students should expect to receive a clean and functioning device.
Starting with the 2024-25 school year we ask that students do not put stickers, bling or draw on their Chromebook.

If a student sends in a Chromebook for repair, the IT staff will remove all stickers and clean the case at no charge. A sticker outlining all damaged device repair costs will be affixed to the top cover.
New Chromebooks assigned during the 2024-25 school year, or any Chromebook previously cleaned of stickers and markings will be assessed a $25 cleaning fee if they are returned with new stickers or markings on them.

We have started issuing protective clamshell style cases with the Chromebook. If a Chromebook was issued with a case, the case must remain on the Chromebook at all times. Cases that are removed and lost or broken due to mishandling will be assessed a $25 case replacement fee.
